In the story 'Delay on the Return Journey,' the flirtatious decision-making between two men is interrupted by a brutal drinking bout in a rural pub. The story 'Letting Go of the Vein' follows the changing relationships and loves dependent on spiritual needs as well as the state of one's bank account. The novella 'We'll See' tells the story of a strong love between a self-sacrificing beauty and a young man yearning for faith, but it also uncovers the cold inner world of a broker-psychopath and other antiheroes of our times, who revel in their 'place at the top.' Věra Nosková this time focuses on the colorful Czech present, populating the book with a pragmatic biotronist, a municipal politician, a clerk at the Prague city hall, a nurse from Písek, a shady real estate broker, a former Hare Krishna, philosophical old men, and a calculating gold digger... The heroes of the three contemporary stories often serve as their own opposites, hiding their secret motivations and strategies from each other, but not from the reader, revealing foolishness and inner wounds.
