Fifty chapters in the form of reports, interviews, critical essays, and personal reflections bring closer the tragic moments of the Bosnian people from 1992 to 1996 and vividly recount the stories of Sarajevo's intellectuals as well as the everyday concerns of ordinary citizens. The first original book on this topic in our country shows a time when all of civilized Europe turned its back on the war conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author sharply criticizes not only the Western powers and their representatives (including those from the Czech Republic) but primarily the alibism, cynicism, and voyeurism of people who do not want to know about the problems of others. Usually, however, this is until their own house starts to burn. "Democrats, believing in laws, reason, and decency, always wait far too long. In the meantime, an ordinary populist turns into a dictator, the fear of war provokes war – and then it is already too late for everything. We are probably incorrigible.
