Beschreibung
"When even a single drop of another color gets into the white icing, it will never be snow-white again. It's the same with people." This is how the queen of the Ku Klux Klan teaches small children how to properly prepare a Christmas cake. What exactly is the Ku Klux Klan, and how is it possible that ideas not belonging to the 21st century are still alive and thriving? The terrifying images of burning torches and white robes do not come from the Middle Ages; they are a message of today. The answer is sought by Polish reporter Katarzyna Surmiak-Domańska directly at a Ku Klux Klan rally in Arkansas, where she examined this extremist organization up close. Because it was here that this "white organization" was born one hundred and fifty years ago, where postcards reminiscent of lynchings of African Americans were published, and where today you can still encounter figures in the woods with torches cloaked in white hoods. Katarzyna Surmiak-Domańska's book "Ku-Klux-Klan. Here Lives Love" has reached the finals of the prestigious Polish literary award Nike. The book is published in translation by Jarmila Horáková.
