Beschreibung
This work, subtitled The Samurai’s Book, was written by Cunetomo Jamamoto, a samurai of the Nabešima clan from the Saga region. In 1700, he was ordained as a priest, took the monastic name Gijokuzan Džóšó and withdrew to a hermitage near Saga Castle on the island of Kjúšú, where Hagakure was created. He retired from the world because, after the death of his lord Micušige Nabešima (1632–1700), the third daimyo, or feudal lord, of Saga, he could not commit ritual suicide, as the practice had been prohibited throughout the Tokugawa shogunate in the 1660s. The book is in Czech.
