This Czech-language textbook covers the topics traditionally included in the seventh-year curriculum: revision of basic knowledge from earlier years, an introduction to language, the sound system of language, word studies, spelling practice, morphology, syntax and composition. Key rules to remember are clearly presented in yellow boxes. Each major chapter is followed by a test allowing pupils to check their knowledge independently, with the correct answers provided at the end of the textbook. Texts with questions and exercises that develop connections between subjects appear throughout. The textbook also includes texts that support and test reading literacy, as well as ordering exercises in which pupils arrange sections in the correct sequence to create coherent texts. Similar tasks form part of entrance examinations for selective multi-year secondary schools and secondary schools.
