The fourth and final installment of the adventurous western series. On the eve of the Civil War, the situation in the United States is very tense. Lonesome has been involved in uncovering Senator Dawson's conspiracy, but he must still pursue him, as Dawson has fled to the forest estate of his ally Cromley, whom the Indians consider a wizard. Miss Lyle, a detective from the Pinkerton Agency, is also on the senator's trail. Deep in the dark forests of Maine, the vendetta that began years ago with the bloody events of the Wild West will come to an end.
