Isotretinoin belongs to the first near-aromatic generation of retinoids. Because it uniquely acts on all four main etiopathogenetic factors of acne, it is the most effective medication in treating this very unpleasant skin disease. It is primarily used for the treatment of the most severe forms of acne. However, its use is also possible for a number of other diseases, such as psoriasis, perioral dermatitis, inverse acne, and other conditions. Isotretinoin is highly effective and safe when used according to recommended guidelines. Treatment is also possible for most patients with other diseases and laboratory abnormalities.
