After the successful monograph by Eduard Stehlík, Jan Kubiš. Not even the worst will stop me..., dedicated to our most famous parachutist, the publishing house TVÁŘE returns to this significant figure in our history. This time, the book not only includes the fates of Jan Kubiš but also those of his twenty-one compatriots who underwent parachute training and combat courses as part of the Czechoslovak foreign army in the West during World War II. Half of them were included in the planned parachute operations, while the others were integrated into Czechoslovak and Allied units.
Seven men were eventually dropped as part of the parachute groups ANTHROPOID (Jan Kubiš), BRONZE (František Vrbka), KARAS (Jaroslav Krátký), CALCIUM (František Široký), BARIUM (Josef Šandera), POTASH (Jan Bartejs), and TUNGSTEN (Leopold Musil) into occupied Czechoslovakia, where they carried out combat and intelligence tasks. Other profiles describe the life stories of soldiers who underwent training, were assigned to parachute groups, but were not deployed – Vojmír Matus (NICKEL), Pavel Hodáč (PLATINUM), Ladislav Vyskočil (CHURCHMAN), and Miroslav Pajer (COTTAGE II). The remaining heroes of this book are soldiers who, for various reasons, were not included in...
