Sebevražda... a jak dál?! – Scheinostová Alena (2023)

In the Czech Republic, over 1,200 people take their own lives each year. According to statistics, these are more often men, with the most at-risk generation being middle-aged, and particularly alarming is the fact that suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15-24. Behind the stark statistics lie specific human destinies, unanswered questions, and the pain of the bereaved. Martin Jára from the League of Open Men discusses the specifics of coping with death by suicide among men, while Sylvie Stretti from the non-profit organization Vigvam talks about children's grief. You will also find an interview with Martin Pešek from the Luctus counseling service, child psychiatrist Jiří Koutek, psychotherapist Olga Havránková, as well as religionist Pavel Hošek and theologian Libor Ovečka. We will also explore the circumstances surrounding the creation of the memorial to suicide victims by Krištof Kintera. Additionally, there are several testimonies from the bereaved and those who have unsuccessfully attempted suicide.
