Soar with us above the city, rightly called the cradle of South Bohemian monasteries, and take a look from heavenly heights into its immediate surroundings, rich in diverse natural beauty. Many places will also reveal a mysterious legend or share a piece of their captivating history. The mysterious landscape here is dominated at first glance by Milevsko, which hides the oldest monastery in South Bohemia with the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. When you examine it closely, you will find traces of Romanesque, Gothic, and even Baroque styles. Adjacent to the monastery is a cemetery complex, whose heart is the Church of St. Giles, boasting a beautiful net ribbed vault and a Romanesque bell tower.
