Lubomír Poživil - Hudba, slovo, režie, dokumentace práce – Kňourková Jitka (2022)

The documentary monographic publication by PhDr. Jitka Kňourková captures the theatrical and radio work and directing efforts in the recording studio of the director, author of stage music, university educator, and advocate of melodrama as a living musical-dramatic form, Prof. Lubomír Poživil (1927 – 2020). It covers the period from 1948 to 2015. The aim of the publication is to provide a comprehensive overview of Lubomír Poživil's work within Czech theatrical and musical culture. In addition to theatrical productions at the Most theater, where three plays were banned either shortly after their premiere or before the opening (Ibsen's Nora-1953, Slomczynski's Loneliness 1957, Marceau's Egg 1959), attention is also given to the complete staging of the Trilogy about Hippodamia by Jaroslav Vrchlický/Zdeněk Fibich at the Most theater in 1954 and other directorial endeavors by Poživil. Poživil's creative activity did not end with his time as the director of the Prague City Theaters (1972 – 1990).
