The book Intelligent Machines and Law offers a reader-friendly perspective on selected legal regulations concerning the handling of information and data in the context of Czech, EU, and US law. It also examines the limits of using artificial intelligence systems as they are (or should be) defined by current and potential future legislation. However, it does not limit itself solely to the state of legal regulations – in connection with the hypothetical 'electronic person,' it also opens broader topics of legal subjectivity, value questions, and the possibilities of artificial intelligence in the current state of technological advancement. We find that artificial intelligence can assist, for example, in managing urban parking, but tends to fail where nuance is needed – such as in assessing discounts on purchase prices or making decisions in a courtroom.
