Today, many people no longer know who Fridericus Emanuel Tirsch was, who later changed his name to Miroslav Tyrš (1832-1884) - originally more of a German, but who identified more with the Czechs. He was a co-founder of the Sokol gymnastic organization and a significant thinker of the Czech national revival. However, very few people know that Tyrš also wrote what is likely the first comprehensive treatise on Islam in Czech, in which he embodied his views on the development of religion.
However, Tyrš's text was not the first work on Islam published in Czech; in 1854, for example, the Life of Muhammad by American writer Washington Irving was published, translated by František Ladislav Rieger. But Tyrš's text deals with Islam in more detail, and the author attempted to analyze it in a somewhat scientific-philosophical sense. It is precisely Tyrš's perspective on Islam that is so interesting that we decided to republish his text to make his thoughts as accessible as possible to today's readers.
Tyrš (most likely without Muslim influence) came to the conclusion that since Islam is the youngest global monotheistic religion, it should also be the most developed, and that is why he likely became interested in it. However, Tyrš suggests in his text that he expects further development of humanity...
