Beschreibung
This Czech-language nonfiction book presents the causes and course of the Armenian genocide. It places the subject in the context of the increasingly frequent massacres of Christian populations under the Ottoman Empire, which culminated during the First World War in an attempt to annihilate Christians, especially Armenians, in the territories of present-day Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Armenia. The book also discusses the attempted destruction of the Armenian people and other Christians by the Ottomans and considers how these events foreshadowed, to some extent, the tragedy of the Holocaust. It concludes with Adolf Hitler’s notorious question: “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”
