Six authors, both well-known and lesser-known, all genuine lovers of Prague, have written a remarkable book about Greater Prague. They approached it unconventionally as a series of 38 so-called 'micro-views,' or glimpses behind the scenes of the metropolis. A colorful yet thoughtful informational collage has emerged, providing insight into the life of Greater Prague. The reader will learn many significant and often surprising things, with serious data alternating with various curiosities, gems, and often very surprising information. The authors observe not only the lights but also the shadows of the interwar metropolis, and thus, in the summary of individual micro-views, the city emerges vividly before us, so close that we still draw from its heritage, yet so distant that it has become a source of modern legends. The book is accompanied by numerous predominantly historical photographs, period advertisements, and maps.
