Beschreibung
The novella unites two love stories. One of the most famous romantic relationships and one so-called ordinary, common love affair. But what is the difference between them? Each is experienced intensely, each is fateful for its participants. Ulrike von Levetzow and Johann Wolfgang Goethe, hydrologist Doris Levecová and editor and photojournalist Libor Výmarský. Moreover, both relationships, separated by nearly two hundred years, are uniquely connected through an exceptional collection of jewelry made from Czech garnet that once belonged to Ulrike von Levetzow. Here, the author Karel Fryč develops a story that is fabricated against a historical background, yet is eternal in its essence, original and ordinary at the same time, simply a story of love. "Human life, it seems, is especially today too long for a single love. But it is damn short for us to understand our feelings more than our predecessors did. Let heaven be praised for love, would say Johann Wolfgang, Ulrike, Doris, Libor, and everyone who has given it to each other, even if just for a single day," writes the author at the end of the book. The conclusion of the book is supplemented by a scholarly text from historian and archaeologist Jiří Šlajsna from the Regional Museum and Gallery in Most about the history of the unique collection of jewelry...
