For more than two years, Bodo Plachta and Achim Bednorz traveled to the homes of famous composers across Europe. The result of this collaboration, an elaborate publication with texts and photographs, introduces us to more than thirty artists in their highly individual working and everyday environments – from Haydn and Mozart to Bach and Wagner, and from Chopin, Verdi, Orff, Sibelius to Schönberg. Achim Bednorz showcases the rooms where music reigned, as well as private spaces through his characteristic visual language, with maximum closeness and without any distorting effects. Bodo Plachta introduces us to composers and musicians so intimately that it feels as if we have visited them in person. All the mentioned residences are publicly accessible and can be visited. We enter the houses and apartments that open doors to the world of music. They show us artists in completely private settings and allow us to glimpse into the musical life of their time.
