The picture book for the youngest, Boudo, budko!, is inspired by a folk fairy tale that everyone knows, even if each probably knows it a little differently. A mouse, a frog, a squirrel, a hedgehog, a hare, and a kid settle in a forest hut. However, the hulking bear also longs for cohabitation and demolishes the hut with its massive body. The author, Ester Stará, chose the variant of many happy endings, everywhere is good, but home is best, and sent the animals back to their natural homes. Although it might seem that the plot of the fairy tale is somewhat monotonous, the illustrator Marie Urbánková has played out a series of exciting micro-stories both inside and outside the hut. Untangling and describing the individual plot lines will certainly be a challenge for young readers. You can simply read the book with the children, or connect the reading with a number of other activities.
