We are preparing children for a world that has irretrievably disappeared. We take children on a steam engine into virtual reality and tell them it is beneficial for them. This book argues the opposite and tries to show what means of transport lead society not into the past but into the future. There is a fun social game. Chairs are arranged in a circle, and people stand around them. There is exactly one chair less than there are people. At the signal, people are supposed to sit down – those who don't make it are out of the game. They have nowhere to sit. To a large extent, this is an allegory of life. Human society plays this game even in the real world. The successful find their places in it, while the unsuccessful move in the shadow of the periphery. The goal of education and upbringing in this world should be to find as many places for everyone as possible, because too many people on the periphery turn the game into a difficult situation or even a horror. But what if humanity has reached a point where the original rules of the game no longer apply, because the chairs are not at hand, but are hidden somewhere in an incomprehensible space beyond immediate reach, and even keep moving?
