If you've never heard of Unity, it's a tool that allows you to create professionally looking 2D and 3D computer games running on various platforms, from Windows to web applications to mobile phones. There is such a flood of information, guides, and tutorials about Unity on the internet that it can be hard to decide how and where to start. In this book, the author tries to introduce the basic principles, techniques, and building blocks through the example of creating a game, while also pointing out possible problems and their solutions. The book is not formatted as a manual or textbook; rather, it is a gradual discovery of what tasks we need to address when creating a game and what resources Unity provides for that. The reader should have at least a minimal understanding of programming related to variables, objects, assignments, loops, and functions. The source code in Unity is written in C#, but knowledge of another programming language will suffice to understand the examples. The book is primarily aimed at curious high school students and possibly their teachers looking for an interesting topic for computer science courses. The author also had in mind all other readers who have heard of Unity and have been planning to work with it for some time...
