Pohádka o Otesánkovi – Říhovská Markéta (2017)

The story of a boy carved from a log, about Otesánek, who is always hungry, and the more he eats, the hungrier he gets, until he ultimately meets a bad end, is accompanied in the book by large illustrations, as well as pictures (so-called pictograms) that reflect the structure of sentences, helping to understand and perceive sentence construction, aiding in speaking and reading, and supporting reading and pre-reading skills. Each part of speech is marked with a different color, which facilitates orientation within the sentence and naturally clarifies the structure of the Czech sentence, including its current sentence division. It also aids in understanding sentences and their correct formation. Because the story of the fairy tale is based on repetition, it allows children to quickly orient themselves in the text and gives them the opportunity to build, read, and understand the entire story with a small number of words. Children can thus read the fairy tale themselves or, thanks to the pictures, assist an adult in reading. They can also easily interpret it afterward. The book is intended for children who love stories and enjoy reading. Due to the pictures, the book can be offered to children as young as two years old. It can also be presented to children with autism spectrum disorders, children with dysphasia, children whose mother tongue is not Czech, or children with other disadvantages.
