Beschreibung
The collage of historical masks from the carnival revelry in Venice calls for a joyful embrace of life, while the mask with a sinister beak – the "plague doctor" or Medico della Peste – reminds us of our fragility and transience. During the plague, stories emerged that provided distraction and education to people paralyzed by fear. Pavel Jansa, an almost eighty-year-old author, wrote a handful of whimsical yet wise short stories, which he calls "covid stories," from April to November of the COVID year 2020. With cheerfulness and irony, he narrates serious matters with a sense of perspective. Primarily about various forms of love and infidelity, but also about the ever-present death and where our world is heading, regardless of what we wish.
