This book explores the fateful love affairs of famous and forgotten figures, including Czech artists who conquered the world, national literary treasures, aristocrats who influenced Czech history, the boxer Max Schmeling, reporter and traveller Egon Erwin Kisch, war photographers Robert Capa and Gerda Taro, overlooked artists, and internationally renowned figures such as Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Ernest Hemingway, Fryderyk Chopin and George Sand. Their exceptional relationships brought both happiness and sorrow, raising them to the heavens or bringing them down to earth, while continuing to inspire and fascinate across the centuries. In this work, Stanislav Motl enters the romantic world of men and women who experienced passionate love affairs, triumphs and falls, while remaining faithful to his established method of researching archives, uncovering unknown documents, visiting the places where events took place and seeking new connections and testimony from descendants. Based on the documentary series of the same name broadcast by Czech Television, the book contains more than two hundred photographs and documents. The contents are in Czech.
