Beschreibung
Zábřežsko has always been a borderland. It lay on the imaginary and actual boundary between Bohemia and Moravia, at the junction of the foothills of the Jeseníky Mountains and Haná, at the dividing line of the German-speaking island of Hřebečsko, Czech settlement in northwestern Moravia, and the Sudeten German borderland. Here, cultures, customs, and lifestyles of the inhabitants of fertile plains, hilly foothills, and mountain plateaus collided. It was not a rich region, but neither was it entirely poor. People lived here as best they could. Over the centuries, they managed to build not only many remarkable monuments but also a distinctive culture, customs, traditions, and oral literature, where Czech and German influences intertwine. And it is precisely the diversity of the local landscape, architectural styles, folklore, and the nature of the local inhabitants that is the greatest asset of Zábřežsko. Those expecting to be overwhelmed by the local landscape will likely leave disappointed. However, if a traveler seeks enchantment, they will undoubtedly find it. There are blooming mountain meadows, spruce forests full of mossy boulders, oak groves hiding forest flora in the grass, and floodplain forests full of buttercups, snowdrops, or wild garlic. You will find picturesque villages and towns full of historical nooks. Zábřežsko is a region where you probably won't be pushing through crowds of tourists. All the more you will enjoy a hike through the mountains...
