The Beskydy Mountains, located on the eastern border of our republic, enchant visitors not only with their beautiful nature but also with a rich history. The Beskydy are not just deep forests, mountain meadows, and flocks of sheep grazing around wooden shepherd huts, but also a memory of the famous outlaw Ondráš and other untamed Gorals who farmed in harsh mountain conditions. All of this creates an unforgettable genius loci that the Beskydy Mountains are literally infused with. Let us immerse ourselves together with the author Petr Juřák, a historian at the Beskydy Museum in Frýdek-Místek, in a captivating narrative about the mountains and their inhabitants, about interesting history, tales, and legends. In the first part, which you are currently holding in your hands, we will move through the area of the Silesian Beskydy, bordered by the rivers Olza (Olší) and Ostravice. The focal point of our journey will be Lysá hora, the true queen of the mountains.
