Environmentální bezpečnost – group of authors (2015)

The relationships between the environment and security are becoming increasingly significant. Whether we view these relationships through the lens of human security and quality of life, or perceive them as sources of potential armed conflicts and societal instability. In recent years, climate change, unsustainable consumption of natural resources, loss of biodiversity, the spread of invasive species of plants and animals, and a number of other environmental threats have ceased to be the exclusive concern of sustainable development strategies (which address security aspects only marginally), and these topics are becoming part of security policies in several countries, including the Czech Republic. The book Environmental Security responds to this reality and provides the latest comprehensive information on the issue of environmental security as it is currently understood by leading global experts in the field. It deals with the history of the concept's emergence, historical and current issues in the areas of resource, energy, biological, and environmental security, analyzes the security strategies of selected countries, and introduces the tools of environmental security in the context of the Czech Republic.
