Bubeneč / Dejvice - Siamská dvojčata pražského severozápadu – Bečková Kateřina (2024)

In the publication series dedicated to former suburban municipalities of Prague, now neighborhoods surrounding the historical center of Prague, the pair of Bubeneč / Dejvice will be featured in 2024. Although originally two municipalities that had little in common beyond their border for nine centuries of independent existence, they merged into an inseparable whole within a few years after the creation of Greater Prague, not unlike Siamese twins, whose single beating heart is called Vítězné náměstí. The publication reflects both the famous history of Bubeneč with the Royal Game Reserve, the Imperial Mill, and architecturally valuable villa development, as well as the attractions of Dejvice such as vineyard estates, the Šárka valley, and Podbaba. However, significant space is dedicated to the major urban transformation after 1918, which resulted in the emergence of a new center in the northwestern part of Prague with its own architectural and social identity, literally rising from the green turf. The book traces the development of this area up to the present day. Like other publications in the series dedicated to Prague neighborhoods, the visual part, created through extensive research of Prague's public collections and other sources, will be the primary carrier of information.
