Pražské veduty 18. století / Prague Vedute of the 18th Century – Lukas Jiří (2017)

Prague views created using graphic techniques have been providing a continuous report on the appearance of the city, its urban and architectural development for over five hundred years. They are among the fundamental sources for the work of historians, art historians, and architects. They are the subject of not only scientific research but also collecting and admiration from art lovers. Attempts to compile them have been ongoing since the late 18th century. However, the degree of processing of the sets of views from individual periods varies. The reason is the almost geometrically increasing number of views of the city and its parts created using graphic techniques over the centuries, leading to growing difficulties associated with their comprehensive 'capture' and processing. A detailed list of Prague views from the 16th and 17th centuries, based on the collections of the Museum of the Capital City of Prague, the Archive of the Capital City of Prague, as well as the National Museum in Prague, the National Gallery, and the Royal Canonry of the Premonstratensians at Strahov (part of which was still housed in the Memorial of National Literature at that time) was published in 2002. The presented list builds on it in many ways and introduces to the professional public, as well as those interested in the history of graphic views of the city from the 18th century.
