The author has gathered recipes from housewives in the Krkonoš region, whom she calls witches, as they managed to feed entire families, including farmhands, using basic ingredients such as potatoes, flour, cabbage, milk, eggs, mushrooms, apples, etc. She personally tested and tasted a hundred recipes together with her entire team, and some of them can be found in the cookbook with detailed instructions and photos. Today, this KRKONOŠ regional cookbook is gaining popularity again, as many of us want to cook with ingredients that are grown here in the Czech Republic. Try preparing typical kyselo, smooth ančka, hubovec, or baking a disheveled bride. Many recipes are vegetarian because meat was rare. The financial budget is also interesting, as you will find that you can cook very deliciously for relatively little money.
