The sun is shining like crazy again, pigeons are drinking water from the fountain in our square, and I'm sitting there with Hermína, swinging our legs and licking the best ice cream we bought from old Bouček. Hermína is already devouring her cone, and the pigeons seem to want some too, because they're fluttering around her and making that cooing sound. I like pigeons. They're all gray and always have plenty of friends around. Suddenly, Hermína looks at me, licks her finger where she has a bit of ice cream, and asks, "Hey, Votruba, how much do you think Matylda weighs?" *** Third-grader Kája knows a lot. Above all, he perfectly comments on everything he sees. But he has no idea how much Matylda weighs. To the simple question posed by his classmate Hermína, he is determined to find an answer at all costs. He would do anything for his best friend.
