The last witnesses told one story, historians another, and those who try to rewrite history for political reasons tell yet another. But history is not a weather vane on a tower that turns as the wind blows. We live in a time when we must not be afraid of the history of our own nation, and we must ask for the truth. Let us ask about it while we still have someone to ask. A tiny village lost in the hustle of the modern world has a story to tell. It was May 7, 1945, when the first shots were fired there, and the next day it practically ceased to exist. A day later, peace was declared, and we know practically nothing about what happened. Why did it almost disappear from the maps? What happened there? Can an answer even be found after seventy-four years?
