The author once revealed in an interview that some of his views on history can never be published, as it would cause a scandal. However, he still shared some of this in this book, as he begins by presenting his perspective on the phenomenon of collective responsibility and collective guilt, the Nuremberg Trials, and the 'football syndrome' in politics. Some of his opinions are shocking, but they seem to be justified. Among other things, the book discusses how, just as many local Germans once longed for the legitimacy of the NSDAP, after 1945 they longed for the legitimacy of the Communist Party. 'The Germans behaved normally; they could easily have turned from enthusiastic Nazis into enthusiastic communists, which is a perfectly normal reaction. People will do anything to maintain life in the environment they live in. The idea is not important, but long-term (survival) in a certain quality that they do not want to leave,' writes the author in one of the chapters of this remarkable book.
