The year 2000 is generally perceived as the moment when Czech comics awoke from several years of hibernation. One of the key events of that year was the release of the double album Ruddy?/?O the handyman, created by Pavel Čech and Tomáš Jirků. This publication proved that local creators are capable of drawing and writing a long yet entertaining comic story, which certainly did not seem like a given at the time. Especially in the case of Ruddy, however, the publisher somewhat rushed the pre-print preparation, and in the meantime, Pavel Čech returned to this hero in several shorter comics, so it makes sense to release Ruddy again, carefully and completely. His adventures will surely delight both his long-time fans and a new generation of readers, who will thus have the chance to get acquainted with Čech's professional beginnings.
