Francie (a věda) v nedbalkách 1967-1997 – Voříšek Josef (2015)

Every country has its typical social customs, modernly referred to as realities, with which its inhabitants live and find self-evident. Visitors from abroad usually become acquainted with these early on. At a deeper level of these realities, the author of the book discovered some peculiar French customs, which he calls 'nedbalky,' that only emerge after a longer stay because they are not perceived by the locals or are even hidden. The book describes the realities and nedbalky of three regions of France in an unconventional way, where the author worked in laboratories over a span of thirty years. The northern territory, mainly inhabited by descendants of the Franks, is best known to visitors, yet its hidden realities are little understood. Half of the country, lying south of the Loire River, is entirely unique and almost unknown to us. It is inhabited by descendants of Mediterranean nations that have passed through or settled there throughout history and have mixed with one another. According to the author, this wine-growing region is the greatest natural and cultural-historical wealth of France. Thanks to his knowledge of the language and friendly colleagues, the author also became familiar with typical Romanesque nedbalky, including those historical and very distant to us.
