The somewhat unusual title of the book is derived from a motto written on a plaque made on the occasion of the completion of basic training at the Aviation School in Olomouc. In full, it reads: "To be the master of the stars and the hearts of kings is the eternal ideal of aviators..." and after reading the book, the reader will recognize that many incidents from Milan Forst's aviation life are described with similar nobility. The book largely recounts stories from regular service with combat units. An interesting perspective is also provided on retraining and service with MiG-15 jet aircraft. The reader has a unique opportunity to learn from a direct participant about the lesser-known assistance to the Egyptian Air Force in the late 1950s. Another period that has been somewhat overlooked in our literature is the author's service on supersonic fighter-bombers Su-7 of various versions. The reader can familiarize themselves with everyday life in these specific units. There, the author experienced the fateful August 21, 1968, and the period shortly thereafter. He concluded his aviation career during the Taran exercise in 1970 and was subsequently dismissed from the army as part of the normalization process.
