A novel mapping the history of the borderlands, set in Vimperk in 1987, during the onset of perestroika, the Prague visit of Mikhail Gorbachev, but also the strengthening ecological movement, the internal political struggle within the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, and the tragic echoes of the Soviet invasion. The commander of the local VB station is preparing for the visit of a significant political guest before the Meeting of Youth of Šumava festival and is trying to prevent any provocations. The biggest risk for him becomes the search for a young man whose father was shot by the Soviet army nearly twenty years ago, and who suspects that it was not an accident, but a perfectly planned murder. And suddenly, evidence that this was indeed the case is remarkably increasing...
