A new, up-to-date, and exceptionally comprehensive overview of Portuguese grammar. The aim of this guide is to familiarize readers with the basics of Portuguese grammar, essential linguistic theory, and technical terminology. This overview focuses primarily on its European standard, but also highlights the major differences compared to its Brazilian variant, whether grammatical or phonetic. Our effort was to present individual grammatical phenomena through simple rules and practical examples so that even users without a deeper understanding of the language could grasp the principles of formation and usage of the given phenomenon and then apply them without major issues in everyday communication. The goal of this publication is not to provide a detailed description of grammar; however, advanced users and lovers of Portuguese will also find something of value in it. Each chapter corresponding to a specific grammatical category contains a description of the phenomenon, cases of its usage, and a wealth of practical examples from life along with their translations into Czech. The difficulty of Portuguese lies not only in its pronunciation but also in the number of grammatical irregularities, and therefore this publication includes numerous notes regarding these phenomena with references to related chapters.
