My tři a já – Redl Vlasta (2011)

Vlasta Redl is among the most distinctive and unique Czech musicians, and he is the author of many popular songs. He has received numerous flattering titles from music journalists: the Moravian Mozart, the genius from Tramtaria, a folk musician unfaithful to folk with rock, a rocker unfaithful to rock with folklore. The one who could be opened for by the Stones... The book My Three and I is Vlasta's life summa and does not belong to the usual musician memoirs full of cheerful anecdotes. The fictionally styled manuscript speaks of the experience of a man who sought the meaning of life in hundreds of concert venues, in the depths of the Grand Canyon, in the heights of the Tatra peaks, and in the Australian deserts, only to finally discover it at home on a shelf... “A travelogue through the countries and places of his life, through his own fate and a certain unbreakable friendship,” Vlasta conceived as a literary symphony, where Steinbeckian grand strings, Hemingwayesque simple woods, Dumas-esque thunderous brass, Wildean unsettling kettles, and even that playful brass band bass flugelhorn often make an appearance. The book My Three and I, which is being reprinted, is the first part of a loose trilogy, the subsequent volumes of which were written by Vlasta's companions in music and life, Slávek Janoušek and Jaroslav Samson Lenk.
