This technique has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine. It was developed in Germany in the 1950s and 1960s. Willy Penzel devised a technology for a special massage, in which he primarily adopted the teachings about meridians and the energy flowing within them from Eastern theory, while omitting other underlying concepts. This significantly simplified the entire system. The complex empirical knowledge is thus presented in a clear and much simpler form than is customary in other textbooks on traditional Chinese medicine. The system has thus become one of the means of synthesizing knowledge from multiple medical directions, offering a new, more comprehensive view of the patient. The method can be used not only for removing energy blocks but also as a preventive measure, and it also allows for some self-healing approaches.
