He was born in a small Moravian village, but thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit, family background, friendly nature, and love for pastry-making, he has lived in the largest Australian metropolis for over forty years. At home, he learned everything he needed to know to become a master pastry chef. He also graduated from a hotel school and started a family. As his beloved teacher advised him, he never rested on his laurels, was not afraid of change, dove headfirst into everything, and worked hard on himself. Alongside his wife, whom he met in hotel school, he was able to instill all of this in his two sons. He repeatedly refused to join the Communist Party, and when it threatened their children, he and his wife decided to emigrate. Thanks to his skills and excellent results in the field of pastry art, he first made a name for himself in Vienna, from where he eventually moved with his entire family to Sydney. Who knows what paths his life would have taken if Czechoslovakia had been a free country back then and František Barnert could have freely pursued his business. He would certainly have honored his profession. In the end, he fulfilled his dream of owning a pastry shop, but he realized it on the other side of the globe.
