B-25 Mitchell A significant part of the aircraft fleet of the Soviet Long-Range Aviation during World War II was made up of the American twin-engine medium bomber North American B-25 Mitchell. The first flight of the new B-25, which soon received the combat name Mitchell in honor of General Mitchell, took place on August 19, 1940. When representatives from the USSR, the USA, and Great Britain met in Moscow in September 1941, various Soviet entities presented their requests. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff also compiled its list of types potentially suitable for purchase, which uniquely included the B-25. The publication describes the versions, deliveries, and deployment of this aircraft.
