According to international organizations, only about one-third of the countries in the world are rated as democratic, while the share of non-democratic countries has been increasing over the last decade. Authoritarian regimes prevail over democratic ones, and authoritarian elements are manifesting in previously democratic states. Both the decline of democracy and the rise of authoritarian methods and regimes are considered global phenomena, and these issues are becoming part of the discussion on shaping the global world. Therefore, today, as we face a crisis of democracy and confront questions about the causes and possibilities of its defense, the endless story of democracy is opening up with new intensity. This book represents an attempt to map the path that begins with searching for a way out for the conception of political regimes and for the relationship between terms and their content.
