Beschreibung

In 2019, we commemorated the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO), established by the Versailles Peace Conference in 1919 as part of the post-World War I peace settlement. During its existence, it has adopted nearly 200 conventions – international standards regulating various aspects of work that have contributed, often radically, to improving working conditions worldwide. Even today, it must reflect current trends and phenomena in society, such as globalization, automation, robotization, information technology, digitalization, and new forms of work organization, which shake the traditional pillars of the world of work and bring about fundamental moments. The monograph dedicated to this anniversary not only presents the history of the ILO, including the intellectual currents and historical contexts that led to its creation, but also analyzes international labor standards in practically all thematic areas (collective rights, working conditions, health protection, equality and non-discrimination, labor migration, rights of specific groups, social security), including their application in the Czech Republic and a comparison with EU law.
