The war with the Casimir Empire is imminent, and the Astonian Union, as the strongest member of the Defense Alliance, has plenty of work to do. While Admiral Sun Lin-shin must defend the allied planet Tarnów with a weakened operational fleet, Admiral Sean Tyler has other concerns. Sent to civilian life for his controversial actions in the Tristian Civil War, Tyler's dull bureaucratic life won't last long, and he becomes embroiled in a dangerous game of espionage. The rules are completely different from those of space fleet battles, but just as deadly, and defeat is unthinkable.
