This Czech-language travel book follows 7,000 kilometres through Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia. The authors’ third book describes two journeys: travelling through the Balkans with a wood-burning stove and cycling through all the countries of former Yugoslavia. Their children Víťa and Šárka have grown since the previous trip, but they still fit into the trailer pulled by their father Luděk. The family crosses the Balkans in every direction, discovering hot days when even the bottom of deep gorges offers no relief, friendly people for whom nothing is a problem and time does not yet mean money, wild rivers, towering mountains where it can snow even in summer, the unique atmosphere of ancient towns, parched landscapes, ancient monuments and azure seas. The book explores why travellers who fall under the Balkans’ spell are destined to return, always searching for roads they have not yet travelled and places they have not yet visited.
