Beschreibung
“What is happiness? To have joy in one’s soul without hurting others.” With these words, Rosťa Gregor introduces his book about journeys by bicycle. It is divided into two parts. The first describes a journey along the borders of the fascinating and beautiful country of Czechoslovakia, covering steep mountain climbs, snow-covered roads and endless kilometres through deep forests and broad plains. Rainy, cold days alternate with exhausting heat, all experienced over almost three thousand kilometres. The second part contains engaging accounts of the author’s earlier journeys abroad and at home, including Carpathian Ruthenia, Romania and Albania, as well as trips to Mount Sněžka, Ještěd and Děčínský Sněžník. He also writes about travelling with children along the embankments of South Bohemian ponds. This is neither a pure travelogue nor a guidebook, but a lively account by a man who has overcome a difficult period in life and found that writing helped him through it. The contents are in Czech.
