Koně z naší republiky – Mieslerová Barbora, Stříbrná Lenka (2020)

The book aims to bring readers closer to the horse breeds raised in our republic, which naturally includes breeds that have a studbook maintained in the Czech Republic, as well as other breeds that, although their studbooks are maintained abroad, are already widely bred in our republic. It also briefly mentions breeds that are not traditional in our territory but where there are efforts to breed them. The introduction of the book focuses on the history of horse breeding in the Czech Republic, as well as the organization of horse breeding today, and the most current findings regarding the origins and relationships of individual breeds. The section dedicated to individual breeds has a uniform structure, including subsections on the Origin of the Breed, focusing on the historical circumstances of their emergence. The entire book is complemented by impressive photographs by Lenka Stříbrná, featuring stallions of most presented breeds, mares with foals, and other non-breeding individuals, often in the form of portraits, showcasing the use of individual breeds (driving, dressage, jumping, racing demonstrations, as well as work in the forest), but most impressively in freedom in pastures, where the natural beauty of the horses shines.
