You are receiving a collection of papers from the international conference "Family and Society," which took place on May 22, 2014, in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic under the auspices of the Permanent Commission for Family, Equal Opportunities, and National Minorities of the Chamber of Deputies, with the support of the Czech-German Future Fund and in cooperation with the Civic Institute, the Rafael Institute, the Universal Peace Federation in Germany, and the William Wilberforce Institute. This conference was held on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the declaration of the International Year of the Family. In the history of mankind, the family is the only institution that has maintained its existence from its inception to the present day. Historians record the rises and falls of many nations, rulers, civilizations, or institutions, but the basic unit of every society or era remains the family. The conference addressed this rich issue in four panels.
