Between 2002 and 2006, a number of significant changes occurred in the Czech Republic, including its accession to the European Union, which significantly influenced the economic conditions and legislative processes in the sectors included in this publication. This is an expanded and updated edition of the text from 2002. Therefore, it is a text that is current and, considering the changes implemented throughout the national economy, has been appropriately expanded to include aspects that were not yet applied or sufficiently implemented in the Czech Republic in 2002. The book is intended for those interested in the issues of the economy and management of the sectors of the national economy that are typically classified as part of the public sector in terms of meeting citizens' needs. It is primarily aimed at educators and university students, as well as public administration workers at all levels. It assumes basic knowledge of the fields of public economics and public finance, from which only the most essential information is provided, with references to specialized literature where the fundamentals of public economics and public finance are adequately covered.
