Hvězdný posel Galileo Galilei – Sís Petr (2025)

A book about the life of the famous philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, and physicist Galileo Galilei (1564–1642). He was born "with stars in his eyes" in Pisa, Italy, and from childhood, he showed great curiosity and a sharp mind. He succeeded in perfecting the astronomical telescope, and his more accurate observations of the sky led him to question the traditional belief that the Earth is the center of the universe. The narrative and illustrations are complemented by notes and quotes from Galileo's writings, astronomical discoveries, and observations, including Copernicus's theory, which brought him into conflict with the Catholic Church. The Starry Messenger received the prestigious American Caldecott Honor and is being published in Czech in a new, revised edition after thirty years.
